Editor:
"I want to thank N. Koropchak, Gregg Worms and Patti Snyder
for their letters to the Editor on Sept. 2.
I would like to follow these letters with a suggestion
to anyone who feels frustrated and angry at what is happening to our beautiful Douglas County. Join the Good Government Group of Douglas County. Two weeks ago my husband and I attended the second meeting of the newly formed Good
Government Group at the CVIC Hall. It was our first meeting and we were impressed
with the family and friends of Bridget Chambers. A representative from NDOT,
Tom Mezzetta from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and two county commissioners, Doug Johnson and Jim Baushke, were
there to answer questions and to take the heat from the audience.
Mezzetta was the only scheduled speaker from the county. Bauschke and Johnson, and the representatives from NDOT took questions from a well-informed
audience. They answered the questions they could and admitted when they didn’t know the answer. Refereshing. We came away from this meeting feeling that perhaps
this group could possibly make a difference. Our suggestion is to come to these
meetings, learn, listen, raise your hands, ask questions and don’t be afraid of making comments. The time has come for the people of Douglas County
to stand up, be heard and take back the control of our local government before it is too late."
